And we’re off!

The Tour of Britain is the UK’s biggest professional cycle race and is a big day for not only the sporting calender but for Northumberland.

The streets of Prudhoe have been decorated with Northumberland colours red, yellow and orange for The Tour of Britain. As it is set to arrive on Thursday 10th September to start Stage 5 from Stony flat bank, Prudhoe to Hartside Fell in the Eden District.
Prudhoe front street has many shops across both sides of the street (I am still yet to count how many) and they have been joining in on the excitement for the big race ahead by decorating their shop front windows.

Yes, it seams the people of Prudhoe are all in good spirits for when the big cycle event takes place.
With cyclists such as Sir Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish, Andre Greipel and Dylan Van Baarle who will all be competing in the race. I am sure the community will all come together to put Prudhoe on the map, for there will be lots of coverage by local media and national media such as Euro Sport to track the race minute by minute.
In total there are 8 stages of the race which equates to 897 miles and I am really proud to say that Prudhoe are apart of that.
