What is your blog about?
It’s a family travel blog. I started it so that I can document all of our adventures with our young son, but I also spent a lot of time reminiscing about trips my husband and I took by ourselves, before our son came along!
How often do your blog ?
It depends; I try to make sure I at least post monthly, but I usually go in spurts where I’ll post a lot at once because there’s so much going on; then I won’t blog for awhile until our next big trip!
How long have you been blogging?
Several years… At least since the late 90s.
What programme do you use to blog ?
I’ve used both Blogger and WordPress; I think I like WordPress better.
What inspired you to start a blog?
I’ve had several different blogs over the years; I tried a food blog, a blog about my three-legged dog, a blog about the first year of my son’s life, and I’m a writer, so I have a writing blog as well!
How do you motivate yourself to blog?
I’ve got to have something big going on! Something that I’m excited about in my personal life, like a big event or a trip. Then I love sharing my excitement with other people on my blog!
What is your favourite thing about blogging?
I just love writing, period, so even when I don’t have a big project to work on, I like that I can get something off my chest and into a place where it will be recorded for when I’m too old to remember!
Are there any downsides to it?
As a freelance writer and an author, I write all the time… So I have a hard time balancing what I want to write vs. what I should be writing. (Meaning… the stuff that I get paid to write!)
For all us newbies to the blogging world, what is your advice to them?
Just get your blog out there, share it on social media, and find other writers out you that blog about the same topic. It’s a great way to make friends!
And just for fun, name one social media platform you could not live without?
Yikes! All of them.
