Smart Phone Free Zone

I may be shooting myself in the foot here but smart phones and the CONSTANT use of social media is doing my nut in.

This has been bothering me since last year and I have put off posting about it but I just can’t keep it in any longer.

I need a place to vent and I am very sorry to say this my dear readers, but my blog is the place to do it.

Connecting

Don’t get me wrong, using smart phones and social media is a great way to make friends/network and connect with friends and family who may be on the other side of the world.

Which is great, in fact that was the reason as to why I got Facebook in the first place- to connect with friends and family that I knew I wouldn’t see everyday.

I think it is great that we talk to people on social media, whether that be on messenger, face time or skype but in today’s world I fear it is becoming a distraction.

Glued to our phones

Seriously, what would we be without a mobiles- a better human being I would say. We are all obsessed with our phones, always having them in our hand looking down at the shiny screen.

Now don’t get me wrong, I too am one of those people and I hate it. Especially as I want to get a role in the media, I fear I have no choice but to get stuck in and be glued to my phone.

But do you remember when I talked about my holiday last year? I had no signal- no wifi and it was bliss, now you must be thinking how on earth did you survive it must have been hell.

Well I blooming loved it and I want it to happen again, just a few days not on my phone would be amazing. You learn to love the outdoors and notice the smaller things in life.

Anti Social

Now this is really gets to me, in the Hirst house- everyone is always using their phones. The TV would be on and no one is watching it (except me) because everyone is too busy looking on Facebook (which is irritating).

We don’t talk to each other because everyone is being absorbed by their smart devices.

I think we as a planet should have a Smart Phone Free Zone or a day where we turn off the wifi or we put our phones down just for a moment and talk to each other or appreciate the world around us.

What do you think? Could you survive without your smart phone?
