Tell me more about your craft? What is it? When did you find out you were good at it?
Our socks really are super comfy, you can absolutely tell the difference when you put on a bamboo sock. We even launched a new super thick bamboo sock this winter which we called Toast because it’s just so warm and comfy, and well, toasty!
Why did you decide to turn into a business?
We tried a pair of bamboo socks a few years ago, and the comfort was so good, we decided we just had to make them ourselves, in designs that make people smile!
Tell us more about the process, the step by step process of your craft- From the concept to the final product.
Well, it all starts at the kitchen table, with a pile of sock templates, freshly sharpened pencils, colour swatches, cups of tea and brains brimming with new ideas! We let the creativity flow and work together, before narrowing down the ideas to a selection ready for the next season. It takes a few months before the finished designs make it to manufacturing and finally onto customers feet.

Where do you sell your product?
You can buy direct from us on our online shop dorisanddude.com. All the sock designs are there and you can filter and browse until you find your perfect style.
Have you noticed a rise in crafters and people buying creations?
There is definitely a rise in consumer interest in more eco-conscious products like ours, as the carbon footprint of the fashion industry comes more under the spotlight in today’s climate crisis. And we do our best to keep our socks affordable so that more people can enjoy their beautiful comfy lushness!

What is the crafting industry like?
The market for planet-friendly fashion is getting wider, with lots more companies springing up to give an alternative to the fast fashion that we’ve all been so used to in recent years. It’s great news for consumers and the competition keeps us on our toes as well!
Do you recommend people starting up their own crafting creations and turning it into a business?
We tried a product and loved it so much we went into business on it! Why shouldn’t others do the same?!
